Week 1 – Monday – This was our first lesson in the Research Project class of 2011, during this lesson we set up our wiki pages and started off our journals. Tuesday – In our second lesson for this subject we started to think of some ideas for our project. Thursday – During this lesson we went to the library and did some more research on some different ideas for our project. Friday – For this lesson we wrote up our journals.
Week 2 – Monday –In this lesson I decided what I am planning on doing my project on and started to do a Wonder wheel on it. For my research project I chose to do it on Wedding Planning.
Tuesday – During this lesson I did some more research on my project.
Week 3 - This week for research project we are focussing on our topics, by doing more research and looking into our topics. For tuesdays lesson we had to write up a 100 word proposal on our topic, to give mrs Miccines a better understanding on our what we are researching and what we plan to do our project on. For my topic ive chosen to do wedding planning and for this lesson I started to do more of my research on it and start to look up the history, the different traditions, there inspirations and where there influences came from.
Week 4 - This week for our research project we worked on our Proposals, for this we had to write up a proposal explaining all the different things that we wish to do during this assignment. Some of the things that i talked about was the interview, who i was going to do it on, what i was going to ask them and about the different things that are involved in the career. Some other things that i wrote about was the different things that i plan on resarching like the history of weddings and the different traditions. There were a variety of different things that i wrote about in my proposal.
Week 6 - This week ive also started to look at the research tool CRAP, for this mrs McInnes made us look at different websites and identify if they are crediable or not. When using the CRAP test, we go through a variety of different questions that we have to go through that help us decide and evaluate whether the information that we are reading is valid or not. CRAP stands for the following:
Currency:
When was the last time the page was updated?
Is the information you are reading current and relevant to the topic of interest?
Reliability:
Does the author provide sufficient sources or references for the information found on the web page?
Is there any sign of the author being biased?
Authority:
Who is the author?
Are there any credentials? Are they reputable?
Purpose:
Is the information the opinion of the author or are they facts? If facts, are there any sources evident?
Who is the creator of the website? Are they a profit-making organization, trying to sell you something?
Another thing that we have been working on this week is our assignment the 5 why's. For this we have to ask a range of different questions for someone else. This activity gets us to look deeper into the topic. Here are some questions that i have thought of for them.
This week I was absent so i didn't do much research project work, some of the things that I did while I was away was research about my topic and some of the things you need to do to get into the job.
